Downloading the SSL Certificate (as a Trusted Root Certification Authority)
This guide will help you to get online with your own personal device. Please note this is not necessary on any school owned or managed device - as this will be deployed automatically from your server, or cloud service.
Step 1 - Downloading the Certificate to your Android device
To make this simple you can either scan the QR code below, or visit https://repo.blackowl.co.uk/edu/sbb
Step 2 - Installing the Certificate
After visiting the certificate download webpage in step 1, you will see a message pop-up at the bottom of the screen. Tap 'Close'.
Navigate to the 'Settings' app on your device and open it. Tap 'Security'.
Tap 'More security settings'.
Tap 'Encryption & credentials'.
Tap 'Install a certificate'.
Tap 'CA certificate'.
Tap 'INSTALL ANYWAY' on the left side.
If you have a PIN/code/swipe/biometric security setting set on your phone, you will need to authenticate at this step.
Tap on the 'sbb.crt' file to install it, it should appear at the top of the list.
You will see confirmation in a bubble at the bottom of the screen: 'CA certificate installed'.
Step 3 - All done!
You're all done and now ready to access the internet. This won't affect your internet usage anywhere else, like at home.
