By default, Microsoft Teams will email you every hour about any notifications you’ve missed. This can quickly get overwhelming – especially if you already keep an eye on the app. Here’s how to change that setting.

Step 1 – Open Teams Settings

Open the Teams desktop app (not the browser version).
Click the three dots in the top-right corner next to your profile picture.
Choose Settings (with the cog icon).

Step 2 – Go to Notifications

In the left-hand menu, select Notifications & activity.

Step 3 – Adjust Missed Activity Emails

Scroll down to Missed activity emails (envelope icon).
Use the dropdown menu to set your preference:

  • As soon as possible

  • Every 10 minutes

  • Every hour (the default)

  • Every 8 hours

  • Daily

  • Off

Step 4 – Done

That’s it – Teams will now email you only as often as you’ve chosen, or not at all if you’ve turned them off.

💡 Tip: If you prefer to keep email uncluttered, we recommend setting this to Off and relying on the Teams app notifications instead.
